Two observations today. Blackberries and the administration of justice.
Saw, or rather more accurately, noticed, my first ripe blackberry of this year. Why haven't I noticed them sooner? Because I haven't left the house in quite a number of days.
My second observation was this. Courts, to my thinking, closely resemble churches. And I do not feel through accident. The courts I have entered or seen have seating for the 'congregation' (plaintiff and defendant plus company). A Pulpit (Stand) Altar (Bench) and Icon (Crest of HM Government). This is no surprise at all. The Queen is sworn to uphold the laws of God.
Here is my conclusion. What alternative is there to a 'judge'? My answer is your spiritual leader. Who else better to administer the laws of God after the Queen herself than he whose life is dedicated to their study.
I for one would feel far more comfortable with a priest presiding than a burnt out jaded lawyer, whose kind are reported in the papers to have ruled that the courts should be secular and there is no room for religion in law. A funny belief if the laws of the land are founded upon the laws of God!
My question is this. Let us suppose I cause harm/injury/loss and /or break one of the 10 commandments (laws of God). The injured party swears an affidavit of truth and I am arrested. Now, instead of choosing to be tried in the de facto government courts where a fair trial is impossible due to a blatant conflict of interest (the prosecutor is generally employed by the government, as is the judge!), I choose instead to be tried in a church... Without the governments corrupt touch, I would stand a greater chance of the impartiality of those presiding and the involvement of the community among whom I reside.
This, as I understand it, is how 'justice' was served for thousands of years.
In truth, I could demand the Queen herself pass judgment in much the same way King Solomon in the Bible did.
I never intend to test this theory... but would be happy to should the occasion present itself...

I Choose Not Fear - Saturday 07/05/11
Emma's mother Dianne arrived last night to visit for the weekend. We ate dinner, went for a walk around at dusk and stayed up until 23:00 chatting.
Today we utilised her insured car and showed her our haunts. Namely Cardigan town and Poppit Sands.
Whilst mooching with Fran (I made the excellent suggestion of splitting up, pre-empting the possibility of shoe shopping) she revealed that she had been given ten pounds by Em's mum to reimburse her for the money stolen from her by the foster boy living with Dianne. She had left her purse at my parents after our last visit. My parents had then posted it to Dianne knowing she would be coming here to visit. This foster boy found it, and relieved it of its contents. The second occurrence. Him and a 'girl friend' stole mothers day gifts made by Frances and intended for my mother.
My feelings towards this delinquent disturb me. In less than a month, circumstance will force us to share a roof. My inclination is currently to smack the bastard and issue some of the discipline he obviously yearns for.
But it's not my place.
Plus, it would be in contravention of my personal moral code to cause no harm, injury or loss to any other being. Some would say it better to direct ones efforts to ensuring he never is presented with the opportunity to steal from us. Lock doors. Surveillance. Ultimately, live in fear. Distrust. What modern society is founded upon, and the weapon with which our government chooses to govern.
My approach will be to confront the issue, state my grievance to the little bugger and hopefully stamp it out. A "you know, I know, you know I'm watching you".
The fact is, physical assault is tiring and if you use your hands, it can cause aches. I'm a lover not a fighter.
My Webley, loaded with SMK Spitfires took another victim this evening. A young Magpie. He flew across my path and momentarily settled in a tree on my left. He then flitted off and alighted at the top of another as I dropped to my knee. Range approximately 30-40 yards. Aimed half a mil-dot above his head. Breathed. Fired. He jumped at the crack right into the path of the pellet. Head shot. When I got to him, the final twitches of nerves animated his legs and beak. Another close range mercy shot ensured his spirits exit.
I might not be a fighter, but I am a hunter. This quarry is in fact edible. Research recommends soaking the breast meat of older birds in milk overnight. This bird, like the pigeon, will be a decoy, then i'll sample his breast.
My expectations are not high. without soaking, magpies are said to taste like "fishy, chewy chicken".

Employment Is Unnatural.... Friday 04/06/10
Just another day at the Office...
Got up as required, got carried away checking the bank balance, was late leaving by 15 minutes.
Was hardly worth rushing as we only got pissed around anyway. I hate work. Its not because I'm workshy, i assure you. Employment is ridiculous and unnatural.
Think about it. Instead of spending the day doing things essential to our living and survival, we spend at least 8 hours a day, 5 days a week doing the same task over and over. So rather than doing many varied tasks and activities, we sell our souls and time for gold to pay someone else for something you could have made/done yourself and perpetuate the cycle.
Is it any wonder depression is so common? Unfortunately if everyone had my desire to not earn and work to live, the Government would have a severe income problem!
Wanted to sod off and go camping, but had loads of cleaning and washing up to do. Didn't finish the chores til gone 7pm. Settled for making a fire in the garden, and falling asleep by it. Got pretty cold so jacked it in.
Off to Wales tomorrow to visit the Lammas Project. An Eco village/ Smallholding jobby. Should be interesting, might get to go camping in time for the weather to turn shit....
Will let ya know.
